What is a High Tea service?

High tea services gained popularity during the Victorian Era (1840s–1900s) and reached their peak in the Edwardian era and the 1920s, evolving from a quick afternoon snack to a formalized, lavish social event. Originating in the 1840s, it started as a way to bridge the long gap between lunch and a late dinner.

What's included in this party?

The tea lounge, Let Them Eat Cake, located inside the Reed Opera house on the lowest level, will be reserved for our party starting at 11am the morning of June 6th totalling $42 a person (gratuity included).  Each guest receives: 1 pot of tea, 1 bowl of soup, 4 savories, 1 scone with cream & jam, 2 desserts and a new fun memory celebrating Kaitlynn's 55 years on this planet.

What should you wear?

Historically, women wore specialized "tea gowns" or tea dresses for afternoon tea in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which were comfortable, unstructured garments worn without a corset. These gowns, popular among upper-class women, served as a bridge between intimate loungewear and formal visiting dresses, often featuring delicate fabrics like lace and silk.

Dressing up is fun and is

DEFINITELY ENCOURAGED!

Hats were traditionally worn for afternoon tea, a 19th-century British upper-class custom. While technically distinct from the more formal afternoon tea, modern "high tea" (often used interchangeably) still welcomes hats, fascinators, or hair accessories.
